Important
upgrades to our databases
Recently we updated our Computing mi IT suppliers and
IT users databases. Many of the categories have been modernised
and updated to better reflect areas of current interest
in the IT industry. |

mi IT suppliers
Perhaps the most important change is the Business Type
category.
In the past IT suppliers contained a large number of companies
that did "a bit of everything" and were consequently included
in a variety of categories. While factually accurate,
this was not very helpful to subscribers who are more
interested in a company's main focus. This is why we are
now asking listed companies to choose just one of the
following categories as their primary business type: reseller,
vendor, service provider or distributor. They can then
add additional activities under the secondary business
tag.
Among other improvements, we are actively collecting new
contacts such as channel sales and marketing executives,
major clients and services provided at site. There are
new lower bands for company staff and turnover, and all
software and hardware categories have been thoroughly
overhauled and updated. A full list of the new categories
is available here

Perhaps the most important change is the gathering of
information about the vendors of the systems used. There
are also new Storage and Security sections.
Among other improvements we are starting to collect
data about call centres and data centres and outsourced
services used at site. All software and hardware categories
have been thoroughly overhauled and updated.
Some of these updates are available now with others
being introduced when data populations are sufficient.
